IAGOS
- In Service Aircraft for the Global Observing System -
enviscope GmbH is a partner within the EC funded project
IAGOS – “In Service Aircraft for the Global Observing System”.
The project aims for the determination of the atmospheric composition by measurement of different trace gases, aerosol and cloud properties. The usage of civil passenger aircraft on scheduled flights allows to achieve a global coverage of the gained data.
The project is focused on the establishment of an European Research Infrastructure to provide a comprehensive data base to be used by the worldwide research community. It will help to understand processes in the global environment.
The task of enviscope within this project is the development of an organizational structure for the maintenance of the instruments and quality control processes. This is a challenging task considering that numerous high sophisticated research instruments need to be operated on aircraft from different worldwide distributed airlines in the highly security-controlled environment of civil aviation.
