<p>On behalf of the German Weather Service (DWD) enviscope performed a measuring flight in the Northern Part of Germany using the Learjet 35A D-CGFD. The aircraft was equipped with a set of instruments provided by the DENCHAR partners and an installation designed by enviscope for surveillance tasks of the German Weather Service.</p>
<p>During the flight no critical ash concentrations were detected and no indications were found to continue the partial blocking of the airspace.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>On behalf of the German Weather Service (DWD) <em>enviscope </em> performed measuring flights to control the radioactivity in the upper atmosphere after the accidental release at Fukushima. The flights were performed using a <a href="http://www.enviscope.de/airborne-platforms/learjet-35a">special mission Learjet 35A</a> of our partner <a href="http://www.gfd-hohn.de">GFD</a>.</p>
<p>The first measurements were performed on March, 23 flying between the North Sea and the Alpes and along the coastal line. In heights between 15.000 and 30.000 ft no enhanced values of airborne radionuclides could be measured. The flight track is given below.</p>
<p>On March, 30 two additional flights took place. This time enhanced values of Iodine-131 have been detected.<br /> The sampled gas probes as well as the aerosol probes collected on filters using a &#8216;High Volume Sampler&#8217; have been analyzed in laboratories of the German Weather Service.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>From October 25<sup>th</sup> to October 31<sup>st</sup> 2010 <em>enviscope</em> joined the</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><strong>International Conference on Airborne Research for the Environment (ICARE)</strong></p>
<p>in Toulouse.</p>
<p>During the <strong>Airborne Research Exhibition</strong><strong> </strong>with more than 10 participating research aircraft and 60 stands for research funding institutions, operators, experts and SMEs instrumentation, <em>enviscope</em> presented its activities in the field of atmopsheric research and the poster shown below<em>.</em></p>

<p>This year our Santa Claus got trapped between bundles of paper when he realized that he needs proper logistics for the distribution of the gifts, including the development and certification of QA/QC processes. <em>enviscope</em> had similar demands in 2010, e.g. during the <a href="http://www.enviscope.de/reconcile-aircraft-campaign-successfully-completed/">RECONCILE campaign</a>, within the <a href="http://www.enviscope.de/engineering/iagos-2/">IAGOS project</a>, and for all the <a href="http://www.enviscope.de/engineering/halo-sr/">HALO and FALCON</a> certification work.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>DLR has finished the first set of test flights with the <a href="http://www.enviscope.de/engineering/halo-inlets/" target="_blank">Trace Gas Inlet (TGI)</a> installed on HALO. The TGI was developed, manufactured and delivered by <em>enviscope</em>. The whole test flight envelope up to the maximum airspeed of mach 0.885 has been tested.</p>
<p>The flight tests are one important step towards the final certification driven by the DLR design office. <em><span style="font-size: small;">enviscope</span></em> contributed with the documentation and substantiation of the inlet assembly, including the modified aperture plate.</p>

<p>SMART-HELIOS is designed to be operated below a helicopter and in combination with the &#8220;Airborne Cloud Turbulence Observation System&#8221; ACTOS.  It is gimbal-mounted (20 m below the helicopter) and fixed within the rope carrying ACTOS .</p>
<p>The instrument  measures radiances and irradiances for the visible and near-infrared spectral ranges above the clouds by means of two optical inlets an four spectrometers, while ACTOS simultaneously measures 150 m below the microphysics and turbulence parameters of the same part of  the cloud.</p>
