New Dropsonde for meteorological investigations
Within a consortium led by the Institute for Meteorology and Climate Research (IMK) of the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) enviscope is developing a new cutting edge dropsonde system for high flying aircraft. The new dropsonde will improve meteorological investigations that require a high spatial resolution over the vertical range up to 55.000 ft. Funding for the new system is provided by DFG and Forschungszentrum Karlsruhe. A series of test launches at low altitudes has already been performed.
