DWD Asche und MONA
On 28.04. and 29.04.2016 enviscope conducted a test campaign for the German Weather Service (DWD). Instruments have been installed onboard our aircraft D-GERY to measure dust and nuclear radiation. The dust measurement system is supposed to be used during atmospheric dust events like Saharan dust or volcanic ash events. The nuclear radiation has been measured by the two complementary systems MIRA and MONA, provided by the company ENVINET. The measured data have been transmitted instantaneously from the aircraft to a server at DWD via a satellite connection link. All systems can be installed very quickly in order to have have them available immediatley after a volcanic eruption or a nuclear hazard event, respectively.
